Beat the Odds Group Drumming

                          Beat the Odds is a group drumming protocol that is currently being implemented in school settings in Southern California. It was developed by a team associated with U.C.L.A., the Los Angeles Unified School District, and the Remo Drum Company in Valencia, California.

                          Beat the Odds requires an eight week commitment , with one session scheduled each week for eight weeks. The sessions are one class period in length, with the classroom teacher attending each session in support of the facilitator.

                          For those schools unable to dedicate the needed time for implementing Beat the Odds during the school day, group drumming can also be an effective part of an after school program
